Clemson University, Fall 2024 – The Alpha Eta Chapter of Beta Upsilon Chi partners each semester with ClemsonLIFE, a program for students with intellectual disabilities that prepares them for jobs and independent living after college. This semester, Clemson IFC offered the rush experience to 11 members of ClemsonLIFE. BYX, along with six other fraternities, participated in this opportunity.
Matthew Bravo, President of the Alpha Eta Chapter, shared how these men have elevated the chapter, “Having brothers from ClemsonLife has brought so much energy to the brotherhood. Through having them at chapter, mixers, and brotherhood events they have brought an atmosphere of pure joy. “
In Spring of 2021, Clemson BYX welcomed four ClemsonLIFE members to the brotherhood. This semester, this incredible legacy continues, with four ClemsonLIFE members joining the brotherhood.
Daniel Herlong, a leading BYX brother in this partnership, reflected on the impact of adding ClemsonLIFE members to the brotherhood:
“Our ClemsonLIFE brothers have done a great job in bringing the brotherhood together. All of them are so loving and grateful for this opportunity, and it serves as a reminder of the blessing that BYX is.”
A blessing it is. BYX men show up authentically. The continued partnership with ClemsonLIFE embodies a brotherhood that shows up in providing real Christian community everywhere, every day. To every young man.
Nehemiah 8:10 reminds us that it is the joy of the Lord that is our strength. This joy of having ClemsonLIFE members in BYX has powered the brotherhood to press forward. The impact of Clemson BYX has reached not only other campus programs, but also their own IFC community. This past Spring, the Alpha Eta Chapter won its third consecutive IFC Chapter of the Year.
Moments like these remind us why every campus in America needs BYX. To meet men where they are and invite them into the destiny of the man the Lord is building them to be.
This is living faithfully. This is leading courageously.
