We Show Up Authentically: Hurricane Helene Story

East Tennessee State University (ETSU), Fall 2024 – Hurricane Helene reached the shores of the US in late September, destroying entire communities along the Atlantic coast. The storm was so violent that it reached deep into parts of states such as North Carolina and Tennessee.

Wyatt Taylor, a pledge member of the Alpha Tau chapter at ETSU, calls Ashe County, North Carolina home. Helene broke through Ashe County, destroying many communities there along its path. Houses were washed away and many families were stranded without necessities.

Wyatt went home shortly after Helene to be with his family after the devastation.

The next day, he answered to three BYX brothers that authentically showed up. These brothers brought Wyatt and his community a truck full of clothes, food, water, and other supplies.

Will Taylor, Wyatt’s brother shared, “These three BYX brothers drove three hours to donate much needed supplies to our local disaster shelters. Our community is beyond thankful for these three. May God bless BYX.”

BYX exists to equip men to show up in times of great need. These three BYX brothers brought courage and hope to a community that was desperately in need of both.

This is living faithfully. This is leading courageously.
